Quick Start
Sign in, create a research workspace, and choose the first NNScholar module for your task.
Use this page when you are starting NNScholar for the first time.
If you have only used general chat assistants before, read First Research Workflow first. It explains the full path from literature search, PDF downloading, and literature database organization to manuscript drafting, manuscript revision, and submission.
Choose the right entry point
- Website: product overview, pricing, sign-in, and desktop download.
- WebUse: browser access to literature search, library, subscriptions, and account workflows.
- Desktop app: long-running literature databases, PDFs, local files, evidence organization, full-stage research agents, manuscript drafting and revision, and submission preparation.
First-run checklist
| Step | What to do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Sign in | Open Log in from the top navigation and complete account sign-in. | Protected workflows can return you to the right place after authentication. |
| Create a workspace | Start a space for one research question, topic, paper set, or manuscript task. | Desktop modules share the same project context. |
| Name the objective | Write the research question and the immediate deliverable. | Agents and search workflows perform better with a narrow target. |
| Pick the first module | Start with Chat, Expert library, or Literature depending on the task. | The right first move reduces later cleanup. |
| Save sources early | Move useful papers into Library and download PDFs before deep reading. | PDF Q&A, evidence review, study design, and manuscript writing need stable source records. |
If you enter a protected workflow before signing in, NNScholar sends you to the main website for authentication and then returns you to the workflow you were trying to use.
First module choice
- Start with Chat when you need to define the research question or plan the next step.
- Start with Expert library when you need a specialized academic workflow.
- Start with Literature when you know the topic and need papers plus PDFs.
- Start with Paper reading when you already have PDFs ready.
- Start with Document Writing when you are ready to write or revise a manuscript.
- Start with Writing-Publication -> Automatic submission assistant in Chat when you are preparing submission, then use Browser.
Example Demo
Scenario: you just installed the desktop app and only know that you want to study obesity and coronary CTA imaging markers.
Run the first session like this:
- Sign in and create a workspace named
obesity-coronary-cta. - In Chat, type: "Break this topic into literature search, core paper reading, and study design steps."
- If Chat recommends finding papers first, open Literature and save 10 core papers.
- Download available PDFs into Library, then open the first one in Paper reading.
- After you have evidence and a study design, move into Document Writing for the manuscript.
After this minimal flow, you are no longer just asking an AI question. You have a research space that can continue across sessions.
After setup, read Right Rail to understand how to move between modules.
