Right Rail

The right rail appears beside the active desktop workspace. It is the research workflow switcher.

What it does

Use the right rail to move from question to sources, from sources to PDF evidence and a literature database, and from evidence to manuscript and submission:

Chat -> Literature -> Library -> Paper reading -> Chat skill phases -> Document Writing -> Browser submission -> Deliverables

You can also open Expert library, Research automation, Plugins and skills, and Side chat when the research task needs them.

How to use it

1. Keep the active workspace focused on one research question, literature set, manuscript task, or submission task.
2. Open the module that owns the next action: Literature for search, Library for organization, Paper reading for PDF Q&A, Document Writing for manuscript drafting or revision, and Browser for submission pages.
3. Finish the module-specific check before moving on.
4. Return to Chat and choose a phase skill above the input when you need study design, idea development, analysis planning, or writing strategy.

When to use Side chat

Use Side chat when you need a clean branch of thought without interrupting the main project conversation. It starts with a snapshot of the current workspace, recent messages, active module, and open tab.

Fold the result back into the main project only if it changes the plan, source list, evidence, or deliverable.

Example Demo

Scenario: you finish reading a paper in Paper reading and realize it may change the study design.

Decide the next module like this:

1. Stay in Paper reading if you only need details from the current PDF.
2. Switch to Chat if you need to compare this paper with other papers.
3. Switch to Library if the paper should become a core reference.
4. Switch to Document Writing if it changes a manuscript paragraph.
5. Open Side chat if you only need to test a temporary idea without changing the main thread.

The right rail helps you place each question in the module that can preserve it best.
